You can actually use any of the C-Port of C-Dock stations. The C-Port or C-Port II stations are port replicators, and will work with your system. The C-Dock and C-Dock II are docking stations and off everything in the C-Port variants, but they also add an additional media bay, and one (or two in the C-Dock II) PCI card slots. It all depends upon your needs which is best for you. I used the C-Dock II most of the time myself, and it allowed me to use a PCI USB2 card, and a PCI Firewire card with my system to allow easy access to external peripherals.
It is, but there seems to be a problem finding Windows XP drivers for the NIC on the C-Port II. I've yet to find any that work. I think if you're running Windows 2000, ME, or older, you're ok.
I downloaded the 3C905B TX drivers from 3Com's web site and my wife's System works fine (Win2K Pro). I know that the system had issues trying to run in an older C-Dock but htat was fixed by downloading the older 3C905 drivers from 3Com as well.
